Introducing Audit Events: Ensuring Visibility, Security, and Compliance in FireHydrant

By Wilson Husin on 3/4/2025

When something goes wrong, the first question is always: what changed? Whether it’s an unexpected change to your on-call schedule, a broken automation, or a modified Runbook that just seems off, understanding the issue starts with knowing who made what change, when it happened, and what exactly changed. But in an organization with many users, keeping track of every action can feel impossible.
Today, we’re making that easier for you to do with Audit Events — a powerful way to bring enterprise-grade transparency and accountability to your FireHydrant organization. You can now quickly troubleshoot issues, track changes, and meet compliance and security requirements without the guesswork.
What Are Audit Events?

Audit Events provide a clear and comprehensive record of changes made across your FireHydrant Organization. Organization Owners can now track who created, updated, or deleted Incidents, Runbooks, On-Call Schedules, and more — all from a single, centralized view to find out:
Who made a change?
What action did they take?
When did it happen?
Where did the action originate from?
This is available today for you to check out in the Settings page of the application.
Key Features of Audit Events
Each event includes detailed information, giving you the full picture of what’s happening:
Actor Details – Identify the user who took action, whether it’s a user or automation.
Event Information – Understand event type, event key, and timestamp at a glance.
Resource Details – Know what was changed, the associated resource ID, and whether the action was successful.
Detailed Change Logs – See exactly what modifications were made (for instance, see when an on-call shift was generated).

Filter by event type (create, update, delete)
Search by user to track specific actions
Narrow results by Resource Type (Incident, Runbook, etc.), Resource ID, Response (successful or not), or Message.
Use "contains" and "does not contain" filters to refine searches even further
Access Audit Logs from Incidents, Runbooks, and On-Call Schedules

You can easily access Audit Events within Incidents, Runbooks, or On-Call Schedules — making it simple to review resource-specific changes right where you need them.
