How to start looking#how-to-start-looking

Understanding the market and what kind of solutions are available can be challenging, but some places to start are with the major players and how they fit into your process map and tooling requirements. Understanding what you already have and what gaps you need to fill will help you to refine what kind of solution you need for your team.

From there, doing a simple Google search or looking at peer review sites, will produce a number of options that you can research and compare.

To narrow down your search, you’ll want to understand the feature sets of each platform and confirm that those features actually work. References from colleagues and friends, customer stories (case studies), awards, and Hacker News articles are all ways to get validation. SRE-specific forums and communities that you may be a member of, such as Reddit, Slack channels, and others, can help you get a pulse on what’s working for others in your space.

There’s a lot of information out there on the web, and we want to share our favorites, so that you can be fully armed with resources when you make your decision.
